Music & Drama

At Hindringham School we put heart and soul into our music, drama and dance.

We now have a school orchestra and many pupils are taking the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. Children of all ages can receive violin tuition and from the age of seven upwards there is also training in brass and woodwind.

We also have an active school choir, which performs regularly at church and village events.

We regularly stage drama productions and the school has a strong presence in local music, drama and dance festivals and showcases. The dance group most recently performed extracts from the musical Hairspray in the large auditorium at Alderman Peel High School, Wells, putting on a show described as “brilliant”.

The youngest children unfailingly delight parents – and all of us – with their traditional Nativity Play. This Christmas it was performed, with striking success, as a drama-within-a-drama at the centre of a larger musical production involving the entire school, Out Of This World. The show involved a space rocket, inter-galactic travel, a crash landing on the distant planet Zork, confrontation with aliens and – through all this – touching reflections on the true meaning of Christmas back on Earth.
