Here at Hindringham School every child matters. We care for each and every pupil as an individual and, as well, work hard to instil the basic belief that the children should care for one another. It is a quality which makes Hindringham children stand out from the crowd. We promote Christian family values and forward-thinking learning, responsive to change, in a happy and safe environment.
“The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is good at meeting the needs of all learners .... The relationships between pupils and staff and among the pupils are excellent with a very evident caring approach to all learning and activities. Pupils say they feel safe in the school and enjoy their learning.” - Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools report, January 2011
The school has a well-established buddy system, where the older children actively look out for the younger boys and girls and care for them – and each other. No child need feel lonely or left out. The playground “station” is used by the children as a pick-up point where they are quickly drawn into activities with friends.
“Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good. They behave well in the mixed classes and around the school, supporting and helping each other” – Report of the OFSTED inspection, November, 2010.
Hindringham is in the top 25 per cent of all Norfolk primary schools for its excellent academic standards, achieving particularly high levels of attainment in English, reading and writing. We provide small class sizes and an exceptional range of sports and creative activities. The school is known for its all-singing, all-action stage productions and its contribution to church festivals and other events in the village. We are also noted for:
Success in this vital area is indicated by the numbers of our children gaining scholarships to Gresham’s and the feedback we receive – and the evidence of prizegivings – at local high schools.
We occupy a peaceful village setting in one of the most beautiful parts of rural North Norfolk. Every prospect pleases - from our large playground and sports field, the upgraded wildlife garden and the wooden adventure trail. We even have our own hill, created to add variety to the children’s play area! We are also blessed with our dedicated kitchen team offering excellent home-cooked lunches.
The new “Eco” classroom for our Key Stage 1 pupils uses energy-saving technology to create a bright, modern space which reflects the sound ecological values we promote in our school.
Hindringham School is in partnership with nearby Blakeney School, a successful initiative designed to enhance the resources of small schools in Norfolk. This means we share a Headteacher, and all the other benefits of a larger school, whilst retaining our own unique identity.
